3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including your family tree, memory storage, and Legacy Vault
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing through Stripe
  • Facilitate sharing within family groups and confirmed relationships that you configure
  • Deliver Legacy Vault content according to the conditions you set
  • Communicate with you about your account, security, and material changes to our policies
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • Maintain and improve the reliability and performance of the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploaded content (photos, videos, memoirs, vault items) to train AI models or for advertising purposes.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

4.1 Service Providers

We use third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate RMF, including:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud — hosting, authentication, database (Firestore), and file storage
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and confidentiality obligations, and are not permitted to use your data for their own independent purposes.

4.2 Within Your Family Group

Content you choose to share within a family group is visible to other members of that group, according to the sharing settings you or the group administrator configure. See Section 8 of our Terms of Service for how family group sharing works.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of RMF, our users, or the public.

4.4 Business Transfers

If RMF is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Legacy Vault & Family Data

The Legacy Vault and family tree features involve information that is inherently relational — it can describe or reference people other than the account holder, including deceased individuals and minors added to a family tree by an adult member.

  • Vault content is only accessible to you and, upon a delivery condition being met, to the specific recipients you designate.
  • We do not independently verify the accuracy of family tree entries, relationship claims, or reported death events — this information is provided by users.
  • If you are added to someone else's family tree or referenced in content you did not upload, and you would like that information removed, contact us at privacy@remembermeforward.com and we will work with you on a resolution consistent with the account holder's rights to their own content.
See Section 7 of our Terms of Service for the full terms governing Legacy Vault delivery, including the disclaimer that RMF is not an estate planning or legal will service.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored using Google Firebase infrastructure, with industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to user accounts and content is governed by authentication and authorization rules designed to ensure only you, and those you explicitly grant access to, can view your content.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your personal memories and profile data are scheduled for deletion within 90 days, consistent with Section 11 of our Terms of Service, unless a longer retention period is required by law or necessary to complete pending Legacy Vault deliveries.

Billing records may be retained longer than 90 days where required for tax, accounting, or legal compliance purposes.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information via your account settings
  • Export your User Content in a standard format by contacting support@remembermeforward.com
  • Delete your account and associated data, subject to Section 7 above
  • Opt out of non-essential email communications via the unsubscribe link in those emails

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@remembermeforward.com. We will respond within a reasonable time, and in any event within the timeframe required by applicable law.

8.1 Exporting your data

You can request a copy of your content from Settings, under Privacy. The export includes your own content and the shared family content you can access in your family groups, such as photos, videos, written memories, and your family tree. Shared items name the uploader where the record has one.

Export files are stored temporarily in our cloud storage for 7 days and then deleted. Only the member who requested the export can download them.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

Family group members who are minors (ages 13–17) may access shared content only if invited by an adult account holder, consistent with Section 3 of our Terms of Service. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, contact us at privacy@remembermeforward.com.

10. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies and similar technologies (including Firebase Authentication session tokens and App Check verification) necessary to keep you signed in and to protect the Service from abuse. We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

If this changes in the future, we will update this Policy and provide notice consistent with Section 13 below.

11. Maryland & Other State Privacy Rights

Remember Me Forward LLC is based in Maryland. Depending on where you live, state privacy laws — including the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act (MODPA) and similar laws in other states — may give you additional rights over your personal information, such as the rights described in Section 8 above, and the right to appeal a denied request.

We do not sell personal information and do not engage in targeted advertising as those terms are defined under applicable state privacy laws. To exercise any state-specific privacy right, or to appeal a decision regarding your request, contact privacy@remembermeforward.com.

12. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States and is intended primarily for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice, consistent with Section 1 of our Terms of Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
